Ein langer Tag, und merklich k\u00fchler als die letzten Wochen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Gut geschlafen. Nach den \u00fcblichen Haferflocken bin ich losgegangen und kurz darauf einer Hikerin begegnet, die ich aus der letzten Stadt kannte. Sie machte gerade Pause, als ich vorbeikam.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Etwa 1.5 Meilen weiter gab es Wasser. Hier hat irgendwann einmal jemand ein Loch in den Berg gehauen und ein Betonrohr eingegraben, an einer Stelle wo Wasser hervortritt. W\u00e4hrend ich filterte, hat mich die Frau wieder eingeholt. Sie benutzt einen Squeeze-Filter, ich filtere durch die Schwerkraft. Sie war fr\u00fcher fertig und ging vor, kurz darauf habe ich sie wieder eingeholt. So ging das \u00fcber den Tag verteilt mehrere Male hin und her. Ab und zu haben wir uns kurz unterhalten, dann wieder jede\/r seinen Weg. Eine Beobachtung, die ich immer wieder mache: Viele Hiker machen weniger Pausen als ich, daf\u00fcr gehe ich schneller, und so begegnet man sich oft mehrmals.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Etwas fr\u00fcher am Tag, auf einer schlechten Erdstrasse, war ein Auto an mir vorbeigefahren \u2014 ein Mann mit einem Hund neben sich, der mich nach dem weiteren Strassenverlauf gefragt hat. Ich habe ihm gesagt, dass viele grosse Steine im Weg liegen und er vermutlich nicht weit kommt. Eine lustige Konversation. Ab und zu trifft man Leute, die praktisch am PCT oder ganz in der N\u00e4he wohnen und keine Ahnung davon haben. Er war einer davon. Er fand es schon krass, dass ich \u00fcberhaupt hier hochlaufe. Dann hat er mich gefragt, wo ich denn gestartet sei. Auf mein \"an der mexikanischen Grenze\" kam ein ungl\u00e4ubiges \"Was??\". Das war recht witzig.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Irgendwann kam ich an einen Abschnitt, an dem der PCT abgesperrt war. Hier lebt der mountain yellow-legged frog (Berg-Gelbbeinfrosch), eine stark gef\u00e4hrdete Froschart \u2014 jemand hat mir erz\u00e4hlt, dass es 2023\/2024 noch rund 300 Tiere gegeben hat. Die Umleitung f\u00fchrte f\u00fcr ein paar Meilen \u00fcber den Angeles Crest Highway, auch bekannt als Highway 2. Teerstrasse statt Trail, aber die Aussicht war wirklich cool. Teile des Highways waren wegen Sch\u00e4den gesperrt, viele Baustellen. Ich habe ein Foto von dem gemacht, was einmal ein Skilift war und jetzt nur noch zusammengefallene Reste \u2014 irgendwo bei Mt. Waterman oder Kratka Ridge, beide stillgelegte Skigebiete. Viele Kilometer Umweg um zerst\u00f6rtes Gebiet.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Am Abend bin ich bei einer Cabin angekommen und habe mein Zelt daneben aufgestellt. Ein anderer Hiker hatte einiges liegen gelassen, teilweise unge\u00f6ffnete Packungen K\u00e4se-H\u00f6rnli. Die habe ich dann gegessen. So oder so ein lustiger Tag \u2014 und merklich k\u00fchler als das, was die letzten Wochen so war.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
